The hot glow of twisting, feasting flames, spreading along the smoke-choked air. Bodies writhing, either still tripping over themselves in their desperation to climb upon the stage. Or rolling, throwing themselves upon the ground so as to snuff out the fire, chewing them out of their recklessness in getting too close to the Knight of Mars. With Luci’s song still tantalizing within his ear, the scene at large was morbidly beautiful. And scarlet hues held Sailor Moon’s visage with an unflinching fixation. The plush shape of bronzed lips maintained a smirk of equal parts confidence and amusement. Devoid of remorse, of compassion, despite the hellfire in which he had released. Stomp this bitch out. He had started to carry out the song’s request, but his efforts weren’t yet complete. And he stood tall, in a most minimal of motions, in response to Sailor Moon hastily placing distance between where he stood and where she had fallen. Toru followed how her rose-petal lips moved, throwing words his way. Only Toru didn’t hear her. No other sound could compete with Luci’s song. All others might as well be non-existent. Gloved fingertips stroked his bow’s frame once more, materializing another blackened arrow. Confidently notching it. Distance might have saved Moon from his earlier fire, but Toru intended to demonstrate the folly of such a strategy. That ranged fighting was his strength. Only, her partner, a redhead in green, white and pink, intercepted, moving so as to block his arrow’s path even before he had fired. A “Sailor Jupiter.” Scarlet hues paused upon her face, and his smirk fell away. His expression was so very suddenly cold, callous. ”Move,” came his short command. An arctic utterance. The song did not care for her existence, and so neither did he. It was at that point that another thought to join the stage, some petite fellow with red and green dyed hair. Hurling a deck of cards at Jupiter, he then proceeded to throw his leg out at her next. Effectively stealing her attention. Toru’s smirk returned, deeply sincere in his amusement, he readjusted his bow’s aim accordingly, and fired an arrow at Sailor Moon. And then another. Before he could see if whether his arrows had struck true, if the fire, which they always transformed into once contact was made, had at least burned the blonde, Toru had to hastily step side-wards. For Jupiter had returned, leaping and landing closely behind where he had been standing. Close-range always had limited Toru’s combat options. There was no time for him to fire an arrow skyward so as to summon another downpour of fire. There was barely enough time for him to swing his bow’s frame out at the redhead, whilst his other hand withdrew a narrow strip of parchment from his jacket’s outer front pocket. And Jupiter quite clearly had an affinity for close-ranged combat. One hand clamped down upon the wrist of his bow-wielding hand, and Toru felt the steel beneath each individual digit, finding that he couldn’t struggle against her grip. Her other arm entangled around his torso, effectively holding him in place, against her. Matching his strength against hers was impossible. Yet, rather than that being Toru’s plan, he wriggled his fingers. Maneuvering and pressing his strip of parchment against Jupiter, in between the minuscule space where she seemed intent to squeeze her body against his. Scarlet hues closed, tightly within his momentary concentration. ”Konton Kosoku,” he murmured. And the parchment immediately burst into fire, projecting a blinding haze of white light, which engulfed both Jupiter and himself. Toru had shut his eyes, but Jupiter likely had not, for she had had no way of knowing what Toru had intended to do. To use his spiritual power not to cleanse away evil but for such an abrupt and intense light to blind Jupiter, to unsettle her enough into relinquishing some of her hold. To allow him to escape her hold. Just as he had no way of knowing that Sailor Moon had readied her attack against both Luci and himself. The piercing light of her Moon Healing Escalation attack struck Toru upon the exact moment that he had unleashed his own cleansing light. And whether by one or the other, or a combination of both, the light burned away the affects that chaos had clouded his mind with. “Awakening” him once more. Broad shoulders rotated once, then twice. A gentle means to try and wriggle free from what little effort Jupiter still intended to hold him with. ”Well … shit,” Toru began to say. At a loss at just what he could say to justify what he had unintentionally done. ”I didn’t hurt you too badly, did I, uh … Jupiter?” It felt odd calling her that, for she certainly wasn’t the “Jupiter” whom he remembered, albeit vaguely, from his past. Hues, once more their golden amber glow, turned towards Sailor Moon, and he offered her an apologetic smile. ”I’m not sure who either of you are but I’d like not to be your enemy. Think of me as a victim of chaos who just so happens to be really good with a bow.” |
