WITH YOUR LUST AND YOUR GREED WEIGHING DOWN |
Kenny had been failing in his mission to find a job while he was looking for a school to finish up his high school career in. The first interview he had was a complete disaster or so one would think who didn’t know what happened. He hadn’t been late, he didn’t fail, but the screw up who had pinned him for interview had booked him at the wrong time and instead of fixing the mistake blamed him for not showing up when he had been pinned in for a later time.
He remembered the smiles they had on their faces when he approached the front desk about the job opening the first time. They told him to come back in three days time for it and it would be as good as his. When he returned, however, the front desk clerk pretended to be oblvious and confused by his request before telling him that they had filled the position. Kenny hadn’t felt so disappointed since he had found out his baseball career was over, the feeling had forced him into a pit of exhaustion.
Why did he stay here? Why did he keep pushing himself in this foreign land? Only so many people spoke English, all of the TV was in Japanese, he couldn’t even say hello or goodbye in the native dialect properly. He sat down on a park bench, his head hung, arms resting on his knees as he thought about what he would do. There was still the possibility of finding a school, but it was highly unlikely that he would be able to play any sport, which at the moment was a deal breaker for him, though it wasn’t like he had a choice in all of this he had to find a school sports or not, he needed that diploma.
It was getting dark out, the moon peaking over the horizon as the sun set. He leaned back against the bench looking up at the darkening sky. He was hungry, cold, tired, he just wanted to lay down and sleep, but he couldn’t. Not here… or could he? No. He couldn’t. So he did the next best thing he leaned forward and buried his face in his hands letting the disappointment take hold.
