[attr="class","screamylyrics"]GIVE ME SOMETHING TO BELIEVE
▼ [attr="class","screamybod"]He panted, the side of his face streaked with blood as a wound on his temple, and into his hairline seeped down onto his pale skin. Head wounds always bled less than it seemed. He knew he was in no danger from it. He was in danger from the pursuer that had tried to find him after school. One did not leave his former employer by choice. There weren't many choices in that place... He thought of his reasoning, grabbing the railing that lead into a small shop. He had raised his hood, avoiding any strange stares, but it was soaking into the fabric at this point.
He touched his abdomen, feeling over the muscles, tender spots that would be bruising later. Boots and fists were powerful things. He couldn't fight back, he was still in his school uniform. He needed to get out of it and leave inconspicuously as possible. This was as good a place as any.
The store owner seemed to be absent from the register. He could hear things going on in a nearby room. It sounded like books were being shelved. The voice said to feel free to look around. He moved quietly toward the back, knowing that places like this always had two entrances.
Past the fiction, past the histories, the sciences. Past... He ignored the cookbooks for a reason, knowing he might be here too long were he to pick one up...
He felt the nausea rise up and stilled, holding himself, afraid he'd lose the contents of his stomach again, although there were none. He could taste the copper on his lips and used the side of his hood to wipe the excess, smearing it on his cheek where it didn't leave empty outlines.
I can just stand here a moment. Then move on... He justified, simply breathing to live as his eyelids drifted lower. He was tired, from being hunted, from living with no future. She had wanted one for him. He couldn't see her face anymore. He confused her memories. There were dreams where he was somewhere else, somewhere far away. A shore, a forest, plains. Places that never existed on such a broken planet. And a hand that stroked his cheek, accompanied by a smile. He never saw her eyes.
Why did you smile for me? I am not worth your time. I could kill you if I was asked to. Why did you cry for me?
He leaned on the wall. There were more rooms nearby but the place was devoid of patrons, likely due to the time of day. But he could hear it. His eyes widened, lips pursed. What was this song? Why did it sound so lonely...
I knew you would be with me All the time we spent What we shared was surely Warm enough to know you cared for me
His hood fell back, features lost with wonder as he let the sweetness of the voice permeate his hollow chest. He could feel it now, off whoever was singing. It wasn't a recording. Longing, Hope, but with it the fear that maybe it would never be enough. And yet, here she sang. Something stirred within him and he found himself gazing from two doorways down to where she was singing, practicing her song from her own sheets. He pulled back, leaning against the wall, wanting to keep listening to the song. Something he didn't deserve to hear, a guilty indulgence. He found himself humming softly, then picking up some of the words as she practiced. A thickly accented, baritone quietly played along, his eyes drifting shut.
Unknown to the other, the interplay continued...
I'll keep my head up high Words of faith and love Your strength gives me hope
Until the last words. He had learned most of them. But it had nothing to do with memories. He simply could not bring himself to say the words. Someday I'll find you with open arms
Those words do not belong to me...
He shut down, panting again as he remembered just how battered his body was. He let his head loll back, closing his eyes in the bliss of song, unaware of how long it took for the weariness to take him over, dragging his body down to the floor in a crumpled heap.

Halt.
The hand, the voice, the power of her harmonious song would all come to cease at the sound of a sudden movement. Toward the door she would quickly look––frightened––her heart would skip a beat. "Who's there?" she would ask. Not awaiting for a response as she would quickly stand. The young girl would come to adorn the female uniform of a Mato Azabu high school student. Consisting of a white blouse with a blue collar resting upon her back with a red bow resting within the center; where upon it one could see her brooch. Whereas for her lower half she would adorn a blue frilled skirt only to follow up even lower one could see the young school girl adorning a pair of white knee-high lengthened socks and dark loafers for footwear. Lastly, for her hair, one could see the blonde wearing her hair within a let-down fashion. Allowing the golden locks and curls of it to befall with elegance and sheen.
Standing, the young girl would come to be none other than Tsukiko, Orihime. Hesitantly making her way toward the door––she would scream! Her scream, not as loud but quickly she would come to cover her mouth. She would look upon the doorway to see a beaten individual, "A-Are you okay?!" She wasn't sure as to what she should do. Run to grab Mrs.Otonashi or stay and help the individual herself! "U-Uhm..." he looked to have still been conscious and would thus await to see if he were okay to stand.
Lightly, and gently, placing her hand upon his the individual's chest and placing herself unto the side of him. She would come to ask, "Where does it hurt? Can you walk? Who did this to you?!" she continuly questioned the injured individual. Luckily there was a medical supply room nearby. She just needed to understand if he was in need of medical care.

[attr="class","screamylyrics"]GIVE ME SOMETHING TO BELIEVE
[attr="class","screamybod"]'A-Are you okay?!'
The music had stopped. He was drifting, the ache in his body now dull. His eyelids fell, barely open. He unfocused, his eyes cast at, through, past the floor. The sound of his breathing was background. Until something bright. He wanted to shield his eyes. He swore his hand moved but it remained stationary at his side.
So warm...
The rest of the world was dark in comparison as the light moved closer, faster. The light placed a hand on his chest and he stared up, his heavy eyes trying to make out her face. Something spoke to him, telling him this light was dangerous. But it didn't feel dangerous. He killed that voice inside him. For a moment he was safe. Maybe he had been more injured than he thought.
Why does the light keep following me in my dreams...
He flexed his fingers, trying to sit up but his body protested too much. It told him to stay there, in the light. "Always... in my dreams..." he muttered, leaning lightly against the girl at his side. The tension seemed to seep from his body as he slowly raised his head.
'Where does it hurt? Can you walk? Who did this to you?!'
The look on her face. The light shouldn't make such a face, especially over him. He reached to place his hand over hers and clasped it, his thumb brushing her wrist.
"That look is unbecoming on you," he spoke softly, the blood still wet on his cheek. He twisted slightly, trying to reach her face before the pain brought reality sharply back upon him, his affect changing in nearly an instant. He shouldn't be here! He could have been followed. Wait... Who was this even. He grasped at his head, smearing the blood and the dirt as it dawned on him.
"J-just a stranger..." he spoke coolly, trying to compose himself. The issue was that his body wasn't having any of this. It wanted to stay there, heal and had no intention of walking away. "Don't touch there," he said, but there wasn't as much bite in it as he'd wished. "You'll get your hands dirty."

"A-Ah!?" She wanted to flail and just start freaking the heck out. She wasn't sure how to help him, but she also wasn't a rookie at first aid! So she would allow him to lean upon for just a moment. But as he spoke of her unbecoming look, she would exclaim, "You should be quiet! Y-You are the one possessing an unbecoming look!" Orihime would respond. Her uniform, coming to be a dirtied simply a tad bit. "Just hold on!" And using her entire strength she would whisk the male away as he leaned upon her from the side.
"Follow me to the infirmary room carefully," she guided.
Once within the infirmary room. Orihime would try her best to place him upon a long, charcoal colored sofa. Resting his head upon a pillow and slowly helping him lower his body into a laying position. "Stay right there!" Orihime said aloud hoping he hadn't collapsed on the way to the room. "I promise I'll..." she would halt for a moment with her back turned upon him. What he had said earlier, "Always...in my dreams..." Orihime lowly repeated. Turning clockwise as her hair would come to tread behind, she would look upon the male with her hazel hues.
Could he have been listening to her song?
No matter. She would get the peroxide and some bandages to clean his wounds along with some pain relievers from the cabinets above. Returning to the male's side, she would runaway once more to get a glass of water. "Here, swallow these pain relievers first and drink some water!" Placing one pain reliever within his mouth first and helping him, if he would accept it, drink the water. Orihime would make sure he correctly received proper treatment. Once having done that and getting some peroxide and a few cotton balls. She would dabble some cotton balls within peroxide to dip upon his injuries one by one. "This may hurt just a little..." she forewarned. Would he flinch too much she would stop and continue if allowed.
"And now we just need to get you some bandages and a cold rag to place upon your forehead and you should feel a little bit better at least," said Orihime as she continued dabbling the boy with peroxide.

[attr="class","screamylyrics"]GIVE ME SOMETHING TO BELIEVE
[attr="class","screamybod"]'You should be quiet! Y-You are the one possessing an unbecoming look!'
It both jarred him to reality but also... He wasn't compelled with the need to completely save face. He just nodded, agreeing with her, fighting a faint smile. Here he was in the most unlikely of places. She was stronger than she looked but he forced himself, even through the ache to not lean too heavily upon her.
He followed as requested to the couch, taking refuge in the soft cushions. He sat back, wincing, feeling where his ribs were bruised. Heavy-lidded eyes followed her. His own were washed out, blue, opposing the red on his cheek and temple.
'Stay right there!'
"I may not have much choice in the matter..." he smiled, then started to hack and hold his flank. The absurdity of the situation was not lost on him. He remembered her.
'I promise I'll... Always...' 'in my dreams...'
She stopped, spoke those words and immediately looked away, feeling the warmth in his skin. His neck flushed and he wasn't sure how to say it. He had been hardly aware at that moment. Dreams were dreams, they were meant to stay buried in a subconscious mind. He waited for her to return, those words dwelling in his mind. The ones she had sung. He recognized her because she had been holding those sheets. She had been at the concert. And if he could rest his suspicious... she had been...
'Here, swallow these pain relievers first and drink some water!'
He wearily nodded, allowing her to give him the pills. His eyes softened and he looked at her, feeling something. He was worried he was somehow tainting her. And at the same time he was resisting his better nature. Things like him and people like her shouldn't mix. He'd remind her of that in a moment. Yes, he'd tell her that.
"Thank you..." the words left him, spoken by someone else, in a voice he didn't recognize. Why did she have to feel so damn warm.
'This may hurt just a little...'
"I am no stranger to pain," he spoke calmly.
'And now we just need to get you some bandages and a cold rag to place upon your forehead and you should feel a little bit better at least.'
He stoically sat as she cleaned his wounds, a look of contemplation on his face. He watched her, not her hands, he watched her face. He finally spoke after she'd dressed him, wincing a little when he tried to sit up.
"It seems I was finally able to hear that song," he closed his eyes, unable to withhold his smile as he shook his head. Why am I here, why am I saying that? Even if she didn't remember him, he had remembered her. Moments like this left him confused. He frowned rubbing his neck, unsure of how to proceed. "I know it wasn't meant for me to hear, I'm sorry."
Please don't be afraid of me.

"You...listened to my song?' she asked.
Orihime's eyes would come to lower for a second. Her hand sitting sitting the peroxide and cotton balls down as she would make way to grab the bandages. Holding a few patches within her hand, her gaze would not wander from the space which she stared in. "My song...That song...Wasn't meant for anyone to hear," she lowly spoke. Her tone coming to exhibit a pinch of sorrow and sadness. "That song was something I used to sing to my...Father growing up," she took a pause to smile toward the window that which sat behind the couch the male laid upon; the sun peeking through the curtains as it was setting.
The room now an orange color.
"My father and I used to sing quite a few songs together when I was a child, he was kind and..." Orihime would pause before directing her hazel hues upon Kai's own, "Strong. I love for him can never waver, but my fear won't also." Orihime stated. "That song...It's something that I was so familiar with at such a young age, something that I heard within my dreams as if––as if I was singing for somebody else. And my father, he created this beautiful song when he told me he loved my voice; it was as if that song was a special way to say our bond could never falter––ever!" A smile would no more fade from her face, but tears did almost want to form. Her cheeks would blush as she continued to talk about the man most important to her; simultaneously trying her best to avoid the bad memories.
"Father's are suppose to protect their little girls, care for them, and make sure that the world can never hurt them..." Squeezing the bandages as tightly as she could without realization. Orihime wasn't aware of her facial expression, believing that she was still upholding a smile upon her face. She hated talking about her dad––hated it! And this person, this boy, how could he walk in on something so precious to her. Her facial expression was no longer a smile, but mere tears coming to befall her face as she would bite her lips and close her eyes. Her long, golden hair would come to reach befall over her shoulders as she would look down. The placement of her hands upon her blue, elongated uniform skirt.
"I-I'm sorry...I'm sorry, I'm so sorry..."
she apologized to the boy over, and over, and over...

[attr="class","screamylyrics"]IT BRINGS ME DOWN INTO MY FATE
[attr="class","screamybod"]I... couldn't stop listening...
She had sung it with such conviction. It left the tones seeped into his bones. He would never forget that moment where he had heard such fragile words sung so bravely. Wasn't meant for anyone to hear? It made him feel empty, hearing her say that. A guilty pleasure that he had heard something that no one else had. Or that no one else understood. He wanted to hear it again, to hear her voice like that.
To taste someone else's longing like that should have been a sin. I should be damned now.
'That song was something I used to sing to my...Father growing up.'
He sat, gazing at her as the day-shapes changed, casting longer shadows in the fading light. When it seemed strongest before the underworld came up to swallow it whole. Except the stars, and the moon. The golden colors were nothing when all he could see was her face. The way the emotions danced across it. Like he could feel them if only he were to reach out and touch her.
'...but my fear won't also.'
For a moment he was seeing his own father. His only memories of the man. He was yelling, chasing after a woman with a gun. He was sure now that his father had been trying to track her down. His father who had placed his country, his work above the welfare of his child.
That song was a lifetime of moments wrapped up into stanzas and verse. It held the weight she always carried. Something that it hurt to keep inside but was impossible to share. Because it was as deep as an ocean, that pain. It wasn't like a little boy, staring over the fallen body of his father as his killer took him home to raise. His father had never even tried.
He had no love to destroy in me.
But maybe... that's just something I tell myself...
She was still smiling, still blushing innocently, still the maiden. But it was like a painted smile. It was something that existed to be worn. Something that if forced, maybe it felt like it was real. Bad memories, he could taste them below the surface. His powers let him dig at those just a little. A glutton for suffering? Except this time he just wanted to understand. He wanted to know why when she smiled it seemed so sad.
'Father's are suppose to protect their little girls, care for them, and make sure that the world can never hurt them...'
If he was in pain from her clenching the bandages in her fingers he didn't notice. He was watching the gloss form on her eyes. He could see it start, could see the minute changes in her facial expression. When her lips turned ever so slightly. He had to fight a small sound that strangled in his throat watching her just... break. Her hair shrouded her like a veil and hid her face, but not her pain.
'I-I'm sorry...I'm sorry, I'm so sorry...'
Instinctively he sat up, reached and pulled her to his shoulder, biting back the agony of his still damaged body. He nipped his tongue to keep from wearing, his arm wrapped around her back. It was wrong to him, so abhorrently wrong to see her like this. Maybe if he held on he could somehow absorb the hurt. His body was a wreck anyways. He'd lived longer than many of his colleagues. He was inconsequential. He lived simply to survive.
She was something brighter somehow. Something vital.
"You didn't do anything wrong... You never did..." he sighed, his breath shaky. His eyes opened, seeing his reflection on a pane of glass. Golden hair like a fairy-tale. And for a moment he saw what he'd become, the horn on his head, the gift of Chaos. He wanted to protect her from the monsters, starting with the one there in the glass.
"Orihime didn't deserve... to be left behind."

She was pulled in––unknowing of what had just occurred.
Orihime was confused, not sure as to how exactly she could respond. Tears, slowly, still fell. But she wasn't sure as to how she should respond, she had never been embraced by anyone aside from her mother and father. So to have been embraced by someone such as...His name...She didn't know his name. It was weird, though she may not have knew his name she felt as though she knew of him. Orihime couldn't fathom as to whom he was though, but his presence wasn't unfamiliar.
Looking up at him––her cheeks flushed with red as she would remove her head from his shoulder. She would allow her hand to caress from his biceps toward his forearms, her emotions screaming all at once. Her heart would thump, but she wasn't sure how to act on her feelings. Orihime never interacted with...a boy before? So this was all new. His kindness, his care. She felt it all. It...Almost unlocked a memory within her.
"Prince Mi––..." Her words would come to halt as her hazel hues would come to lock onto the boy's own. Her words, once more, executed the word "Prince," and whether he heard her or not, something unexpected would occur the next. Orihime, leaning in as closely as she could, would reward the male she had just a met––a kiss.
But this wasn't intended! It was her past life butting into her present. The past Orihime of the Silver Millennium would come to play into her present, as if the universe itself was trying to remind her that she...she was something, someone. And with the kiss, whether he stopped her or not, the kiss would come to break very quickly. Orihime would cover her mouth, blushing extremely red and exclaiming with a loud, "I'm sorry! I don't know what came over me, my head just...It just..I felt it was right...I'm sorry," apologized the girl. She would back away from the male, the bandages that Orihime once held in her hand would fall to the floor.
"I...My memories are a bit fuzzy, I'm sorry...You just reminded me of someone I once met, someone...I don't remember meeting.." Orihime said placing the tip of her left fingers upon her lip. She would turn her back upon the boy next, holding herself as she would linger on with her thoughts. This wasn't Orihime, it just wasn't...
Forgive her.

[attr="class","screamylyrics"]LONG TIME AGO, A STORY WAS TOLD TO ME
[attr="class","screamybod"]He watched her face as she pulled away, but not so far. She was still here with him, the flush on her cheeks a delicate reminder he was in the presence of innocence. Of something far purer than he. He shivered, feeling her fingertips trace along the contours of muscle in his arm. He didn't look away from her eyes, afraid he might somehow tear a thread that had formed between them. He had never felt like he could crawl into someone's soul before. Only steal their fear, their pain. This wasn't pain, it made him forget to breathe. The more unsure she looked the more he wanted to help anchor her to the reality of this space, this moment.
"Prince Mi––..."
He barely formed it in his own mind, his brows furrowed. His lips pursed, to speak until he heard it again, closing his mouth.
"Prince."
I.. am no prince, but I will be one if that's what you wish of me...
He inhaled, feeling her inch closer, her lips pressing to his own. They were warm, full, not dry like his, not tinged with blood. He tasted something sweet, his arm tensing as he moved closer, wanting to slide it behind her, to slide his fingers in the soft, cascade of gold reflecting the light of the fading sun as it filtered through the window.
What does it look like under the moon..?
A soft, hungry sound escaped him before she pulled away and reality flooded his lungs and he took a staggered breath.
"I'm sorry! I don't know what came over me, my head just...It just..I felt it was right...I'm sorry,"
He wanted to reach, to touch her shoulder but she was pulling away, apologizing for what she had done, like it was a sin. As if she could have been culpable of such a thing. His head hung and he moved his fingers through the tangled mess of silver. Slowly he raised his gaze, falling upon her with a gentle longing.
"Did I scare you? I'm sorry..."
"I...My memories are a bit fuzzy, I'm sorry...You just reminded me of someone I once met, someone...I don't remember meeting.."
"I don't blame you Orihime..." it felt so good saying her name. The way it came off his tongue, like he could somehow be a part of her universe by knowing the magic words. He forced himself to sit up, wincing all the while. She faced away from him now but he could see her face reflected in the window. Unsure, the emotions rolling off her didn't need an empath to read. He inhaled, moving to stand. He ambled, his body stiff as he moved before her, knelt down but almost didn't make it, having to grasp the edge of where she sat.
"Will you forgive me, for making you cry?" he bit his lip, reaching up to stroke her cheek if he could, his features twisting in worry. He quickly closed his eyes and looked away. What am I doing. You are an enemy. But... you are not mine.
"You are..." he felt his throat squeezing. Not my enemy! You're not. Orihime... He had to bite his lip to keep from losing his composure, needing that apathetic wall. She'd see through him like a tear in a paper-lantern.

Forgive...? It wasn't his fault. The tears that she shedded before him weren't of his accord, but her father. She didn't know this individual, she had no recollection of whom he was. But this wasn't the first time she met him––it wasn't. "I...don't blame you," she said aloud. She didn't, she couldn't!
It wasn't his fault. Not at all. "I just wasn't feeling like myself is all, you did nothing wrong." Orihime saw an image flash before her eyes. She saw a girl...Crying, a tear that befell the cheek of a girl kissing someone she treasured most. Her memories were beginning to cause her to deviate from the present. Why was she still upholding these memories? Why couldn't she focus on the past, why did they keep coming to her?
"We should finish your bandages," she replied upon grabbing the male's hand. "Please don't stand, you're too injured to move a muscle; I'm in of...no importance, and I'd like for us to forget what occurred." Blushing a little bit as her gaze would shift elsewhere. Her sight would come to fixate upon him once more, and she would say, "My name, by the way, is Orihime––Orihime Tsukiko." Aiding the male in standing, she would come to craft a smile upon her face.
"Let's get you fixed up."

[attr="class","screamylyrics"]LONG TIME AGO, A STORY WAS TOLD TO ME
[attr="class","screamybod"]"I just wasn't feeling like myself is all, you did nothing wrong."
"I feel that perhaps it's mutual, feeling out of our skins," He chuckled softly, smiling. His eyes softened upon her and he looked away. How long had it been since he had genuinely laughed? How long had it been since he thought something... silly? He exhaled, trying to find his ground again. He didn't belong here, not in her presence. Inherently he knew... It simply wasn't his place. When he had gone against Bel he sealed his fate as the hunted. A man on borrowed time.
I made my choice. No regrets... I just wish I could leave you with a smile.
"We should finish your bandages."
"S'alright... I'm not dying," he tried to reassure her.
"Please don't stand, you're too injured to move a muscle; I'm in of...no importance, and I'd like for us to forget what occurred."
I chose you. A perfect stranger. Are you a stranger? You aren't of no importance. You were always important...
"As you wish," he stilled himself under her hand. He furrowed, having difficulty with her request however. "I will be honest though, I may not forget even if I try." He laughed softly. It was the most refreshing sound to leave him in ages. It felt like the weight had left his shoulders, for only a moment. Like he was alive, as so many others were. Those people outside that smiled at each-other. For a moment he was just like them. For a moment.
He let her help him stand, his eyes still on her own, whether or not she matched his gaze. Washed out, arctic blue. Icy, like he would be soon after leaving this place. He wanted to be warm just a moment longer. Gods, don't he deserve to be warm for once? Hadn't he payed enough? Didn't he earn this moment to smile. The heat on his cheeks was alien, uncomfortable to him as she stood beside him and he for once had to look away, biting the insides of his cheeks to keep his expression even.
"Let's get you fixed up."
"My name is Yuda-" he bit his tongue. It felt natural to let it slip. His birth name. Not the one given to him by the one who raised him to be a monster. The one his mother had chosen for him. Something no one had ever called him since his last ties to his blood had left this earth.
"Kai, my name is Kai. It is a pleasure Orihime, though we met before. I..." his voice softened as he smiled. "I wasn't able to forget you."
The sun had descended further into it's underworld retreat. It would be night soon and he would be in danger if he didn't find shelter. He couldn't stay here. He couldn't let the ones that hunted him find her. A vivid image of blood on his hands and a limp body shook him enough he shivered. He reached out, gently touching the girl's face, his features severe and concerned. "They'll be coming for me soon. I can't let them find me here."
He spoke as if asking her what the best way out would be, but aching to actually part.

What...?!
He couldn't forget...her? Orihime would look up at the being known as Kai––halting upon stabilizing the bandage around his wounds. "You're...the boy," she said. But no, it wasn't the fact that he was that boy from the concert, he was the one who saved her. "I don't know what you're talking about," she said going right back to mending his wounds.
She wasn't sure as to whom they were, the boy could have meant anybody. But...his familiarity with her, the sense that she knew him. He was the boy who fought along side her, he was the one she allowed to get hurt. Her gaze coming to terms that the boy standing before her had been the male that went against the witch that was Bel.
"You can't keep running, you have to..." she would pause before continuing your words. "You have to find...Sailor Moon, she can help you––and them, she can also help them! Those two girls, Bel and Lucy, they're just broken and corrupted. If anything Sailor Moon can heal them...she can fix them," Orihime spoke lowly as she thought of the encounter.
Finishing the bandage upon his arm, she would look to him once more. "If you runaway I may not be able to find you again, Kai."

[attr="class","screamylyrics"]LONG TIME AGO, A STORY WAS TOLD TO ME
[attr="class","screamybod"]She recognized him from then, from that concert. He chuckled, mirth on his gaunt face. Eyes as sharp as ice watched her finish, blue and empty like the sky. It didn't matter how she recognized him. It meant he wasn't crazy for feeling something. A kinship of sorts, or something more. She was so breathtakingly beautiful. Not her looks, but the way her hands moved, the sound of her voice. There was something inside her that he could feel warming his broken soul.
"I've been running for a long time. If I stop, I'll die..." he spoke bluntly. Someday he might be too tired for it. Everything chasing him would catch up. It felt like forever he'd been moving, even though it had only been a part of his small, meager years. Part of him felt old.
"Sailor Moon? I hope I can believe in her like you say. But since I trust you..." how could he throw around those words so easily? Trust? When was the last time I trusted anyone...
"I want to protect her," he clasped Orihime's hand, his features hung low. They had drained from his face, replaced by concern for the girl. The light. So many things could put it out, so many things would try. He had been one once. He knew she was in danger, he... felt who she was.
Her? That would be up to Orihime to guess. He wouldn't force her hand. "She isn't alone..." He forced a smile. A brave reassurance. A morbid hope laid buried in his heart that maybe this time, instead of watching another marvelous soul die, he could take their place.
I'm tired of being left... behind.
Where did that come from?
He furrowed at his own thoughts, confused by this second helping of weariness. He'd had to abandon his phone. It was no longer untraceable. He'd have to find another temporary soon. He had nothing to give her. He closed his eyes, clasping both of his hands over her own, the callouses rough on such delicate skin.
"I'll find you. When the shadows are too deep, too heavy. I'll find you," he let got, then began touching her cheek with his fingertips.
"Orihime won't be left behind anymore," he smiled, starting to step back, eyeing the dead remnants of light that scattered long shadows on the floor. They were reaching halfway up his body.
He turned, moved through the doorway, heading for the entrance but not before looking over his shoulder. "You are not alone."
Maybe it was silly. Childish remnants of the fairy tales he used to collect for someone long gone from this life.
"Even the moon has a shadow."

Orihime had not a clue as to what to say the next. Her eyes quivered within the setting light that lit the room within a flare of orange. Her mind pondering for a bit as her gaze shifted toward the ground, her grip with slightly tighten upon his hand as she was screaming, "don't go," in silence. She wanted to cry out in jest, offering herself as an extension to help the innocent being that which, without a doubt, looked to possess exhaustion and sadness.
He spoke of wanting to protect her, but she didn't need protecting! This was her fight, not his. It wasn't something he had to bare alone, she hadn't a clue as to why the Sirens were after him or what even their reasoning could be––but she was going to ask anyway.
"Why..." she lowly spoke.
"Why are they after you, of all people?!" she cried aloud. Her grip would come to never as she did not want to let him go. "I'm sorry, but I...I can't sit idly by watching this happen––Kai!' she exclaimed loudly his name, all for Mr. and Mrs. Otonashi, whom had been hiding outside and eavesdropping for quite sometime, to hear. Even their dog, Choco, had been eavesdropping. It wasn't everyday they met a boy of such circumstances––nor a boy whom happened to be a friend of Orihime's.
With a large sigh of annoyance, she wanted to bare the burden of his past, present and future. She was chosen for a reason, chosen to take this path within her life. "I was chosen to do this, to help people––she, I mean...she was chosen," Orihime calmed down. "I'm not a weak little girl anymore, I'm not the person who I used to be...I've grown, slightly, and I'm still growing. But I can't grow any further if the people that I've sworn to protect from them...those girls...Sailor Moon will not allow her troubles to befall upon someone else!" Her words held sincerity within them, worry as well.
"If you're ever in trouble, you can always find me within Shiba Park, no matter the time or day; I'll know when you're there...don't ask how, but I will...I swear." Her eyes would become riddled with determination and truth, her words filled with desire to remain truthful to her guardianship.
But yet something was off, her heart fell in a sense. "I don't know why but...I just feel as though I can't allow you to fight this alone, as if...as if the moon itself were trying to foretell me something." she said lowly to herself. It was as if familiarity had began to rang within her heart, as if Kai was no mere ordinary stranger to...her.

[attr="class","screamylyrics"]LONG TIME AGO, A STORY WAS TOLD TO ME
[attr="class","screamybod"]She had turned him, facing her tears. Such bravery he had never known. Forced upon her but never forgotten. He felt, no... he knew she had always been a gentle heart. It wrenched him in two knowing she would have to keep fighting, that she would be hurt, that it couldn't be stopped. Destiny? Was it really going to do the same thing it had before?
No, not you Orihime. I won't lose you again...
The strange, quaking of his heart at the way he knew things about her, about his own determination. He was no romantic but he knew he could trust them somehow. He stepped back, standing before her, tall but stained with bruises, bandaged but whole. He cocked his head gently and pursed his lips, gathering his words.
"Because my loyalties were never theirs to begin with, that is why they hunt me," he spoke in a hushed tone, wanting to wrap her in his arms and make that pain in her eyes go away, something he had caused.
You're supposed to live forever you know? Not... me...
"You keep changing your words," he chuckled softly, weakly as she tried to hide her nature from him. That she was of the moon, that she had to fulfill her role. The more she tried to obscure it, the more firm he became in his suspicions. "You were always so beautiful, even conflicted," he spoke with a familiarity that made him jerk suddenly, his eyes wide.
Why did I say that... Who am I?
"Orihime... I..." he struggled for a moment, his eyes glossed in the dim light. His fingers wove up into his hair and he took a deep breath, letting them slide, falling limp down at his waist. "Please don't worry for me."
My heart can't take that...
"I cannot let them hurt you if all they seek is my blood. You are..." he found himself trying for air, his breath trembling in his lungs. He reached for her, as if she were going to disappear on him, as if she weren't even there, some phantom from a dream. He clutched her, feeling the deja vue hit him between the lungs, trapping itself in the cage of his ribs.
The Brave Princess tried to fight them on her own. So many had fallen, so many bodies. The darkness smiled that day.
In the end there was only one choice.
I said goodbye...
I took what remained of my strength and I fought. Foe after foe, cutting them like wheat. I was almost dead but if I failed the sacrifice would be in vain.
She fought with Him. I was their shadow.
But not even I could save the one I loved.
If I'm ever born again, I hope she will be loved, that she will be happy. And that I can walk in the dark places she cannot.
Someone took my hand, and brought me back into the fray.
"I promise... I'll find you. I-I promise," his voice trembled, he had to let go but he felt like he had met a long portion of his soul. Someone he could never forget, even from dreams.
