Only, Toru had thought to ask Takeo as they had sat together upon the hickory-leather upholstered backseat of Toru’s car. A wicked smirk promised that he was still revved-up from their night spent in Roppongi. Karaoking. Gaming. Formulating various half-finished plans about their renewed duty as stellar knights. And so, a short time later, in which Toru had supplied his driver with directions and then a shorter instruction to park the car and wait, both male youths were walking towards a toilet block, in a quieter corner of the Shiba-Koen district. The block itself was rather standard, ordinary. Mundane. A small rectangular construction of concrete, pale save for some signs of graffiti. The street itself was more intimidating, quiet from emptiness, and heavy with shadows. A corner removed from the romantic lights of the district’s famous park. Hues of molten embers turned towards Takeo, his softly structured lips immediately set to playing with a smile, every bit as mischievous as the dancing flames alit within his gaze. ”They say that the Shiba Haunter appears in the guise of a handsome man.” Regardless of whether Takeo was as informed as he was about the local urban myth, Toru intended to set the scene. ”Supposedly, he was once a love-struck teenager, long ago, but he hung himself in Shiba Park out of despair when the girl that he loved rejected him for another. Now he haunts these toilet stalls, dressed in a red cape and a white mask. Whispering to those who try to use those same stalls.” ”’Would you like a red mantle?’ he asks. And for those who dare to reply ‘yes,’ the Haunter then tears the skin from their backs.” Laughing, Toru turned on the edge of a leather heel, facing his friend whilst his back was turned towards the toilet block. ”It makes him one of the city’s more volatile toilet ghosts – did you know that there’s nearly a dozen of those? My director’s trying to think up a future episode to include them in, but in a way that doesn’t leave my audience focusing on a toilet theme. So far, no luck.” Taking a step back, falling closer towards one of the block’s two side entrances, Toru added, ”since you’ve shared with me your world of music and gaming, I wanted to show you mine – at least, as much as spontaneity allows. Ghost-hunting requires a bit of forward planning, so tonight we’re stuck with the toilet-haunting variety.” Winking, Toru teased, ”don’t worry. The Shiba Haunter won’t touch you so long as you tell him no.” ✉ TAKEO AIKO ORIHIME TSUKIKO ✎ 445 words ※ I am so sorry for how long it took me to get this up. |
